Perfect Salmon Every Time!
Updated: Feb 19, 2021
Soooooo ... I'm a bit obsessed with Salmon ( I pronounce it saa-men and my Dad and I argue about this every time I say it to him! 🤗 ) I probably eat it at least twice a week and I've mastered a way of cooking it that it really comes out perfect EVERY time! I've shared the recipe with a few other people to, and they all agree!
I'm using this perfect salmon recipe to kick off my #BeautyFood series here on the blog. When it comes to Beauty, eating well is a HUGE part of seeing results. About 75% of the skin issues that the majority of us deal with really come from food allergies. And when it comes to skin treatments, the food and substances we take in can be a key factor in helping or sabotaging the improvements we want to see. It's kind of a big deal! So I'm looking forward to not only sharing more recipes that I have come to love, but also why they're great for our health and beauty too.
So back to this fatty fish! I'll give you 3 top reasons why it's an amazing food for your skin:
Omega 3 Fatty Acids: Salmon is full of this stuff, and the reason it's so great for skin, is because it helps to calm inflammation, which can lead to a breakdown of collagen and elastin, both of which keep skin looking young and beautiful. Some also take it in the form of fish oil. Skin has a natural oil barrier that sits on top of it to protect it from the outside world, which helps skin retain moisture and stay hydrated. This is what gives you the glow!
Vitamin D: It can help protect the skin against the negative effects of UV rays. Vitamin D is also great for skin cell growth and repair and helps protect against free radicals.
Astaxanthin, a chemical compound known as a keto-carotenoid, which gives salmon its pink color. It is also an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. In addition it creates more collagen also acts as a fantastic anti-aging agent. Helps to improve the look of wrinkles, age spots and skin texture.

You can honestly season this Salmon however you like! This is just my personal no fail recipe. As you can see there are no real measurements here. (Y'all know Black people never measure anything LOL. I'll work on that in the future) And how much seasoning is honestly up to you.
The key is to use quality butter and fresh garlic! That's what really makes the difference. Just leave it in the oven to cook until the edges are nice and crispy. I just watch for it. Squeeze the lemon juice on at the end and listen for that sizzle! Add some green vegetables like broccoli or kale and this is a quick and easy go to meal for any day of the week.
So enjoy! Let me know if you try this for yourself!! I want to hear about it in the comments.
